I really want to emphasize my love and passion for learning and teaching. I truly want to make a difference in the lives of students and help inspire the next generation of educators. I share methods that I have learned from some of the most amazing educators around the globe on how to become a better educator, while expanding their classroom as a writer, speaker, and professional. Kelly Croy interviews teacher and author Don Wettrick about his book Pure Genius: Building a Culture of Innovation and Taking 20% Time to the Next Level. Don offers great insight to how you can truly create a culture of innovation in your classroom. Don talks about how the idea for his book and creating an innovative classroom all began, and outlines steps you can take and identifies obstacles to avoid. Don states, "There is a big difference between consumers and producers. Genius hour is time to produce."

Kelly Croy interviews Anthony DiLaura about using iBooks Author to create multimedia iBooks in the classroom to engage students, provide Professional development for staff, and as a source for passive income. 

 

Anthony DiLaura serves Zeeland Public Schools as a high school math teacher and instructional technology specialist. His one-to-one iPad math classroom leverages the iPad as tool for inquiry and student creativity. Anthony was recognized by Apple for his innovative use of iPad in education and named as an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2013. Anthony enthusiastically shares his knowledge at various conferences around the country including South by South West Edu, NCTM, FlipCon, and Phillips Exeter MST conference.  Recently, he founded the organization iBookhack.org.  Through ibook hackathons, he helps educators create their own digital curriculum in the form of mobile, media-rich, multi-touch iBooks that foster curiosity and student engagement. To date, ibookhack events have popped up across the country and seen hundreds of teachers author and publish high quality interactive textbooks using iBooks Author.

• Three-Time All American Wrestler for The Ohio State Buckeyes

• Television Commentator for the Big 10 Network

• A successful entrepreneur and motivational speaker

• An actor in the Oscar nominated film, FoxCatcher with Steve Carrol, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo

• A health and nutrition expert helping individuals, organizations, adn corporations live healhier and more successful lives. 

 

J. D. is also an all around great guy.  He truly a heart of gold. I am honored to have him on this podcast. He has much to offer educators, students, entreprenuers, families, and all individuals. 

 

While JD is not an educator in the most traditional sense of the word, in that he doesn't have a traditional classroom that he reports to, he speaks and influences thousands each year teaching and helping them live a healthier and more productive life.

 

My vision for today’s podcast is to offer educators and listeners something truly unique, the chance to sit down and get some advice from an accomplished Olympic athlete. We will cover some time management and productivity tips, talk about education, and discuss some facts and myths about health.
