Kelly Croy interviews Anthony DiLaura about using iBooks Author to create multimedia iBooks in the classroom to engage students, provide Professional development for staff, and as a source for passive income.
Anthony DiLaura serves Zeeland Public Schools as a high school math teacher and instructional technology specialist. His one-to-one iPad math classroom leverages the iPad as tool for inquiry and student creativity. Anthony was recognized by Apple for his innovative use of iPad in education and named as an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2013. Anthony enthusiastically shares his knowledge at various conferences around the country including South by South West Edu, NCTM, FlipCon, and Phillips Exeter MST conference. Recently, he founded the organization iBookhack.org. Through ibook hackathons, he helps educators create their own digital curriculum in the form of mobile, media-rich, multi-touch iBooks that foster curiosity and student engagement. To date, ibookhack events have popped up across the country and seen hundreds of teachers author and publish high quality interactive textbooks using iBooks Author.
