Kelly provides the motivation, tools, resources, tips, and tricks you need to write a book and get published. Kelly has interviewed numerous educators that have been published and now he is going to show you how you can do it. Kelly provides the motivation and understanding of WHY you will want to get published and what it could mean to your lifestyle and career.

Not interested in writing a book? Kelly may just change your mind in this episode. Started a book, but haven't finished? Kelly will help you across the finish line. Already published your book? Kelly will show you how to get even more out of it and help you along with your next work.

This is an insightful episode that delivers the motivation and resources educators need to write a book and get published.

The following resources are about to save you years of guessing. Outlined below is the culmination of my intense reading, studying, and testing to become a better writer.

• On Writing by Stephen King: If you are going to read only one book on writing, this is it. King holds nothing back and tells you what you need to hear. Read it. You will want your own copy. While this is aimed at writing fiction or novels, I believe what King says in this important work is something every writer needs to hear.

• On Writing Well by William Zinsser: This is a must-read for any aspiring author who wants to write nonfiction. This is a classic and it is full of the best advice. Skip the others. This is the one you want to read.

• Do the WorkThe War of Art and Turning Pro by Stephen Pressfield: Choose any of these great books to get you motivated and believing that your message needs to be heard and that you can accomplish the task. I found each of these incredibly helpful. After writing awhile your brain will begin to tell you to take a break, stop, quit, and even abandon your work. These books will arm you with the necessary defenses to these age old hurdles and career killers.

• Zen and the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury. This is a short wrting but by one of my favorite authors. Bradbury delivers hope and encouragement in this work that every writer should hear. I hope you will give it a read. The image of writing that Bradbury conveys will stay with you as steadfast soldier guarding your dream.

• Michael Hyatt’s GET PUBLISHED Program: If you want the insight on how to get published, you will want this course. Michael Hyatt is both a successful publisher and a successful writer. Don’t guess at the world of publishing. This program will tell you everything you need and save your years of research as well as preventing you from wasting money on useless products and services. I admire Michael. This program helped me publish my book.

• GoOnWrite.com: This is where I get my book covers.  They are super-affordable and they look great.

• Scrivener: The best writing tool on the planet for numerous reasons. This program is the best way to write anything period. I have tried them all. This is the one. Scrivener is a powerful content-generation tool for writers that allows you to concentrate on composing and structuring long and difficult documents. While it gives you complete control of the formatting, its focus is on helping you get to the end of that awkward first draft.

• Learn Scrivener Fast: Get the most out of Scrivener. This course is quick, easy, and will make you master Scrivener. It is essential. You will be amazed at all you can do, the time you save, and most importantly the writing you create. A must!

Along Came a Leader: This is my book!

Wired Educator Andy LosikKelly interviews Andy Losik about his new book, Stay in the Game, sharing his knowledge of technology annually on a local television news program, working with amazing corporations focused on helping education, and providing quality professional development for educators. Andy and Kelly also discuss being the all-around "helpful tech guy," a role many wired educators know very well. Andy is a great teacher, a great guy, and has really expanded his impact as an educator. This is a great interview for all educators. You will be inspired to expand your classroom and discover many ways to make an even bigger impact and improve your lifestyle.

Andy Losik has been teaching for 21 years in a variety of elementary school settings. For fifteen of those years, he has taught the elementary Infotech program by combining technology and literacy skills in Hamilton, Michigan. Andy is a STAR Discovery Educator, a Google Education Certified Innovator, and Apple Distinguished Educator as well as the 2009 Michigan Tech-Educator of the Year. Along with his classroom duties, Andy oversees online learning at Hamilton High School serves as a technology "helpful guy" in his school district and across the country for private, public, and charter schools. He has also provided insight for companies like Disney, Sifteo, Sony and most recently joined a special team at Discovery Education that works to advise and promote its many corporate partner educational initiatives. First and foremost Andy is a husband and dad who loves his family, fishing, and football as much as he loves the techie stuff.

Andy's new book, Stay in the Game, is about Jared Veldheer. Jared is one of the top left tackles in the National Football League but very little of his path to the Arizona Cardinals is what you might expect.

Stay in the Game follows Jared’s journey of being a brainy, over-sized kid who often found it hard to fit in to an athlete discovering his many talents. It didn’t “just happen” though and without a core set of principles in his life, it never would have. Sometimes the best thing you can do is “Stay in the Game.”

It took author Andy Losik and Jared’s parents nearly five years to complete, but “Stay in the Game” is now available in paperback and eBook.

The book targets older kids and the casual football fan but the hardcore pigskin geek will have plenty of material as it also details a lot of the recruiting process, training for the NFL Combine and Draft, as well as some of the inner workings of how the League and teams operate.

Ryan began his career as a high school social studies and business teacher, where he taught for twelve years. He is a graduate of Muskingum College and Xavier University. Ryan lives just outside of Columbus, Ohio, with his wife and two daughters.

This is a great interview for everyone to listen, whether you consider yourself the social media king or queen, a newbie, or someone who adamantly refuses to ever use social media. Ryan's book and intervew is a real eye opener, and makes you rethink your role in education. There are takeaways for everyone. Ryan and I talk about how schools can promote what they are doing in the best possible manner and what not to be concerned about when doing it.

I hope to attend this institute to continue learning and collaborating with some of the most amazing educators in the world. Season 2 of The Wired Educator Podcast begins with an amazing interview with Apple Distinguished Educator, Anthony Johnson. Anthony is a passionate educator and an inspiration to students and teachers alike. I'm so excited for you to hear Anthony's story and learn what he is doing differently in and outside his classroom. This is an amazing interview!

Anthony lives in Salisbury, NC with his wife of twenty years and their three daughters.

In his school years, Anthony was a terrible student and a teacher’s nightmare who stayed in trouble. During that time, he failed 4th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades before dropping out of high school at the age of 16. Anthony received his G.E.D. and moved from job to job for nearly a decade. He later enrolled at Livingstone College and graduated in 4 years with a degree in Elementary Education. His goal is to teach with enthusiasm and give his students a different experience from his own in grade school. Teaching is his passion and his desire to help young people succeed has afforded Anthony the opportunity to travel the world as an educator. He has presented and given speeches all over the country.

Anthony currently teaches 4th/5th grade Science and Social Studies at Isenberg Elementary School in Salisbury, North Carolina.
